Can you think of anything more fun than getting a surprise valentine in the mail? And if it is a handmade valentine, all the better. For the past three years, I have participated in a homemade valentine swap sponsored by the blog, The Stationery Place. Every year I get a little stressed and a lot inspired to create a valentine to share with four women whom I have never met.
The first year, I was determined to make my valentines with stuff I had on hand. You know, all those craft supplies you put away saying you are going to use some day. Well, that same day came.
Last year, I adapted the "flag" trend for the valentine swap. .
This year, I had to go on a hunt for an idea. I went to Hobby Lobby and was inspired by a stem of pink sequin leaves. I used leftover valentine paper and my heart shaped cookie cutter as a pattern to make hearts. I glued the hearts on to the front of blank, pink cards and then hot glued the sequins around the edge. Simple, but full of glam. What do you think?Happy Valentines Day to you!!! Wishing you a mailbox full of handmade valentine cards. xxoo
